A one hour cruise with a 2.5 or 5 hour island stop over, with bush walks, snorkelling, kayaking & a great island restaurant

Sir George Grey, the first Governor of NZ purchased Kawau Island in 1862 & began establishing a 'Garden of Eden', converting the Copper Mine managers house into an imposing mansion. Wander through the carefully restored Mansion House & admire the many artifacts gleamed from his travels, or marvel at the everyday objects of the Victorian era. Quietly amble through the elegant sub-tropical gardens with Weka, Wallabies & Peacocks.
Enjoy freshly roasted coffee & tempting treats at the Café, or take a short stroll, swim or snorkel in the clear waters of sandy Ladies Bay. It's an easy 15 min walk to the lookout for spectacular views of the Copper Mine ruins, or following the Miners track through bush with Wallabies, Tuis, Wood Pigeons & even Kiwis, then along the foreshore to the Copper Mine itself.

*Please note: Mansion House Museum has a small D.O.C. fee of $4 per adult, & $2 per child. Children under 5 free.
